Final Recommendations

1.    To supporting organisations, mainly associations, chambers, clubs, etc. that provide training or could play intermediary role between training providers and women entrepreneurs:

“BSOs should support initiatives to broaden access to and utilization of digital services that help women entrepreneurs start, develop, finance, and expand their businesses.”

Digitalisation generally offers small companies an opportunity to create new opportunities for their business. Interest groups like chambers of commerce, etc. can help to raise awareness in this area. Information campaigns with testimonials and success stories in this area can help to reduce threshold fears and show that economic success can be achieved quickly even with a small budget.

BSOs should encourage both the public and private sectors to use social media to educate women business owners and their clients on the accessibility of digital services, how to use them for online commerce, and how to protect themselves from fraud and cybercrime. In some situations, social norms that are restrictive are linked to hurdles to women using digital services. BSOs ought to support tactics that persuade service providers to adopt a more gender-inclusive strategy, including utilizing female agents to increase the usage of digital services by women. Designing campaigns to affect gender roles, the acceptability of women entrepreneurs, and financial decision-making should also be a part of these tactics. By using digital financial services more frequently, women can have a greater impact on their communities and contribute to changing gender norms.

BSOs should furthermore encourage women to participate in actions that promote improved digital access and usage among women in general, and women entrepreneurs and managers in particular. They should also, give women the support they need on how to improve their technology infrastructure and connection so that they can access digital platforms and digital services.

At the same time, the content developed under DigiWomen project can be made available to the target group.
